Vodafone and Sony to offer music to match your mood

10 Jan 2006

Mobile operator Vodafone UK has teamed up with electronics giant Sony to develop a streaming 3G mobile music service that claims to tailor its output to users’ personal taste. Vodafone RadioDJ will allow users to create up to ten personalised music channels which will stream music to specially commissioned Sony mobile handsets. The pair claim the phone will analyse individual songs by genre, mood, beats and harmonies, and learn to play only tracks which suit the users’ personal preferences. Vodafone RadioDJ will be launched in the UK in the second quarter of 2006 and is expected to cost around GBP10 a month on top of regular service charges. The duo hope the service will rival Apple’s iPod in the mobile music market.
