ETB sets ambitious VoIP targets

Colombian telco ETB has revealed plans to expand its VoIP, WiMAX and broadband operations during 2006. In the VoIP arena the telco claims to have in the region of 2,500 corporate customers, which it expects to see increase to 10,000 by the end of the year. ETB received a WiMAX licence in October 2005 and claims to be planning a commercial launch in June. It hopes to use WiMAX to offer broadband wireless services in cities where it does not have an installed copper network. By the end of 2006 the telco hopes to have coverage of 14 cities and anticipates some 40,000 customers. In 2007 it plans to expand to three other regions.
