Antel wants to speed up new purchasing regulations

10 Jan 2006

Uruguayan state-run telco Antel has requested that the government speed up the implementation of new regulations that will enable it to make direct purchases rather than have to go through public tenders. The operator has asked the government to appoint an independent legal consultant to work with its own consultants on the matter. The telco is also rumoured to be in talks with other operators to organise methods for making purchases together, although an official agreement has yet to be made on this matter.
