DTAC to invest in regional services

5 Jan 2006

Thai mobile operator Digital Total Access Communications (DTAC) has announced plans for major investments in its networks in the north and south of the country in a bid to wrestle control of the regions from market leader Advanced Info Service (AIS). DTAC says it will spend around USD300 million of its USD400 million 2006 network improvement budget on rolling out at least 1,500 new GSM, EDGE and 3G base stations in the northern and southern provinces. The cellco says it hopes to capture around 30% of all new mobile users over the next three years.
