Japan’s largest mobile phone carrier, NTT DoCoMo has agreed terms to acquire a 2.6% stake in the country’s leading broadcaster, Tokyo-based Fuji Television Network, as part of its plan to develop digital broadcasts for mobile phones. Under the deal, DoCoMo will pay JPY20.71 billion (USD178.5 million) for 77,000 shares in Fuji TV. The deal is expected to close on 11 January.
