T-Mobile evaluation delay sparks sale rumours

15 Dec 2005

Deutsche Telekom has delayed its annual audit of its UK wireless business T-Mobile UK by six months so it can asses the impact that the purchase of its rival O2 UK by Telefónica will have on the business. The ‘annual impairment tests’ are usually scheduled for completion by 30 September, but DT has pushed back T-Mobile’s evaluation to the end of March 2006. The delay has triggered rumours that the German group may considering selling T-Mobile and is waiting to see what impact the O2 deal will have on the UK operator’s assets.
