International numbering plan introduced

15 Dec 2005

The Belarusian government has announced plans to introduce an international numbering plan next year, eliminating ‘zero’ from city codes, special services, inquiry offices and taxi telephone numbers. The new plan will be introduced to intercity and international telephone connections in 2008.

Meanwhile, participants of the II Forum on Banking and IT have agreed that the country’s current telecoms legislation needs to be improved to develop e-banking services. The government has yet to comment on the matter.
