neuf Cegetel predicts 200,000 TV-over-ADSL users by end-2006

13 Dec 2005

French alternative fixed line and internet services provider neuf Cegetel expects to have signed up 200,000 customers to its television over ADSL service by the end of next year, up from the current figure of 50,000. The company’s managing director Michel Paulin estimates that the underdeveloped French market for TV-over-ADSL could reach twelve million users. As it stands, nearly two thirds of French households receive traditional free-to-air broadcasts. neuf Cegetel, the third largest ISP in France behind France Télécom’s Wanadoo unit and Iliad-owned Free, plans to hold an IPO sometime in late 2006 or early 2007.
