Neovia wants 50,000 customers by end-2006

Wireless broadband provider Neovia Telecomunicacoes has said it plans to sign up 50,000 customers by the end of 2006, up from 35,000 at the end of November 2005. The company has around 3,200 commercial and residential points of presence (POPs), a figure which it plans to increase to between 4,500 and 5,000 by the end of next year. Neovia also wants to achieve nationwide coverage by the end of 2007; it currently only operates in Sao Paulo state. The operator says it will concentrate on WiMax technology, and hopes to gain a customer base which is 80% residential.
