German discount retail group Aldi has this week launched an MVNO mobile phone service, under the brand name Aldi Talk. The pre-paid service is being provided over German network operator E-Plus’ GSM infrastructure, with electronics company Medion handling distribution, marketing and after-sales service. The Aldi Talk package is being sold for EUR19.99, including a SIM card and EUR10 of call credit, and is available at over 4,000 Aldi outlets. Customers have to supply their own handsets.
