7 Dec 2005

Malaysian cellco Celcom has inked an MYR60 million (USD15.9 million) deal with IT services provider LogicaCMG Global Telecoms Asia to upgrade its mobile network applications platforms. The one-year contract will see LogicaCMG supplying a next-generation short messaging service centre (SMSC), intelligent network platform, and business tools solutions. It will also include a pre-paid system upgrade for Celcom’s 3G network. The next-generation SMSC will enable Celcom to double its SMS capacity to 1,000 messages per second. By installing Logica’s customer care and business intelligence solutions, Celcom intends to analyse and respond to customer behaviour and service usage, with the aim of increasing monthly ARPU.
