According to reports in local paper El Mundo, Spanish 3G licensee Xfera is planning to launch in June 2006 and hopes to end the year with 600,000 customers. The report claims that agreements with equipment vendors hinge on whether the company can sign up a new investor. Hong Kong’s Hutchison Whampoa is negotiating with Xfera shareholders for a controlling stake in the company of between 51% and 63%. Current shareholders include TeliaSonera, Actividades de Construccion y Servicios and Albertis Infraestructuras.
