Optus threatens Telstra with legal action

Australia’s number two operator SingTel Optus has threatened its rival, state-owned incumbent Telstra with legal action if it does not grant access to its planned broadband network. Telstra, which announced plans to build the high-speed network in its strategic review last month, said it did not want to bear the cost of building a network only to let its rivals piggyback on it. Optus, however, has proposed a model in which the whole industry could share in the investment of the network.
