Eurotel launches 3G

Mobile operator Eurotel has launched commercial 3G services in Prague and downtown Brno, a year ahead of schedule. The cellco said it will expand to the country’s other main cities in 2006, and plans to cover over 50% of the population by the end of 2007. The initial maximum data transmission speed will be 384kbps, but Eurotel plans to increase this to 1.8Mbps in early 2006 by implementing HSDPA technology.
