Optus rethinks IP plans

Meanwhile Optus has delayed the rollout of a AUD100 million IP core network by around twelve months following a restructuring of its operations. The telco first launched a tender for the core IP network and associated networks in September, and has short listed Alcatel, Cisco Systems and Jupiter Networks to provide the equipment, with Huawei Technologies – which is currently rolling out Optus’ broadband network – also bidding for parts of the tender. Optus has not revealed when the IP network will be launched.
