Telekom expecting bumper profits

30 Nov 2005

The chief executive of Telekom Austria, Heinz Sundt, says the company is on track to achieve net profit of EUR370 million for the full 2005 financial year, up 63% on 2004. The forecast is only slightly lower than one made earlier this month, when Sundt said that he expected profits to increase by around two thirds from last year’s EUR227.3 million. Meanwhile, the telco has revealed that it is still interested in acquiring stakes in Serbian cellular operator Mobtel and Bosnian wireline operator Telekom Srpske. Both companies are currently part state-owned.
