Indosat to invest USD670 million in 2006; Telkom reports financials

Indonesian telco PT Indosat has pledged to spend USD670 million in 2006 on expanding its infrastructure and improving service quality. The planned investment is lower than the USD900 million spend in 2005. According to the company’s president, Hasnul Suhaimi, the funds will be raised from company income and bonds.

Meanwhile, rival operator Telkom has reported a 20% rise in operating income to INR30.2 trillion (USD3.02 billion) for the first nine months of the year. Operating costs also increased, by 20.5%, to INR30.2 trillion (USD1.7 billion).
