Court says Vodafone’s interconnect charges too high

25 Nov 2005

The Swedish Administrative Court of Appeal has upheld a complaint by TeliaSonera against interconnection fees charged by mobile operator Vodafone Sweden. The Court ruled that the interconnection fee of SEK1.53 a minute charged by Vodafone until 30 September 2003 was unreasonable. Vodafone may appeal against the charge. If the ruling is upheld TeliaSonera expects to see benefits of around SEK100 million in operating income and a one-off cash payment of around SEK275 million in its fourth quarter financials.

Meanwhile, TeliaSonera has been selected as the sole supplier of mobile, fixed and IP telephony to the municipal sector in the city of Stockholm in a seven-year, SEK700 million deal. TeliaSonera was handed the contract by TietoEnator, which had been appointed turnkey contractor by the city.
