Japanese ISP EAccess has revealed plans to invest up to USD4 billion in the rollout of a 3G network in the country over the next two to four years, according to the company’s CEO Sachio Semmot. EAccess is one of three companies which will receive a 3G concession sometime in 2006, the first time the mobile market will have seen new entrants in twelve years; Softbank Corp and IPMobile are also set to win concessions. EAccess plans to select equipment suppliers for the network by the end of this year, and hopes to have achieved coverage of 85% of the population by the start of 2008.
