TELUS Mobility launches packet PC

22 Nov 2005

TELUS Mobility, UTStarcom and Microsoft Canada have announced the launch of the UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700. Operating on TELUS’ 1xEV-DO network, the Pocket PC offers high speed mobile access to e-mail and the internet at speeds of 400kbps and 700kbps. The 3G network currently has coverage of Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal and will be rolled out to other urban areas in 2006. The Pocket PC is designed to be backward compatible with TELUS’s 1x network – which has 90% population coverage – in areas where the 3G is not available.
