No social telephone agreement says Anatel

21 Nov 2005

Brazilian regulator Anatel has denied reports published last week that it had struck an agreement with the Ministry of Communications on a ‘social telephony’ service for low income families. According to Anatel interim president Plinio Aguiar the two parties are ‘still searching for an agreement’. The Ministry proposed that the new service should only be offered to families with up to three minimum salaries a month, but Anatel disagreed with this proposal.
