KT to launch commercial WiBro by June 2006

21 Nov 2005

Fixed line and broadband operator KT Corp has revealed plans to roll out a commercial wireless broadband service (WiBro) by mid-2006. The cellco launched a trial of WiBro technology earlier this month, and says it will launch commercial services initially in the Seoul metropolitan area, before expanding across the country. Rival operators Hanaro Telecom and SK Telecom are also expected to launch WiBro services in 2006. The new service will enable users to stay connected to the internet while moving between cells.
