Vivo expands in Parana

According to local newspaper Gazeta Mercantil, Brazilian cellco Brasilcel, which operates under the banner Vivo, has begun an expansion plan under which it will invest BRL100 million (USD45 million) in its network to extend coverage to 35 new municipalities in Parana state. The operator, which currently has a presence in 231 of the region’s 399 municipalities, has already begun operations in 14 of the new regions and plans to cover the remaining 21 by the end of this month. Once the expansion is complete, Vivo will be the only cellco in 22 of the cities.
