Chilean fixed line incumbent Telefónica CTC Chile plans to invest a total of USD140 million in 2006, around USD35 million of which it has earmarked for expansion of high speed internet services. Last week CTC launched a scaled-down version of its ‘Speedy’ internet package, aimed at lower-income consumers. The company expects its broadband subscriber base to reach 320,000 by the end of this year and half a million by the end of 2006.
