M-Pay to install phone-operated vending machines

According to Brazilian newspaper Gazeta Mercantil, Slovenian company M-Pay has announced plans to install 10,000 vending machines in Brazil that will accept payment by mobile phones. The new machines, which will enable users to purchase products such as soft drinks using credit from their mobile phones, are expected to be in place by the end of 2006, as well as 50,000 retail payment terminals that will also accept phone payments. M-Pay has invested USD4 million into its Brazilian operations over the last ten months.
