Wireless ops aid Telus profit

A strong performance by Telus’ wireless arm helped the group to post a 21% rise in net earnings to CAD190.1 million for the three months ended 30 September 2005. Revenue rose 6% to CAD2.06 billion, although wireless revenues managed a 16% hike to CAD864 million, on the back of a CAD2 rise in ARPU to CAD62 and the addition of 138,000 new customers during the quarter. Sales of fixed line voice and data services were unchanged at CAD1.2 billion. High speed internet lines rose by 7,100 to a total of 736,100.
