Carlyle moves for Kingston

US equity firm Carlyle Group has approached UK telco Kingston Communications with a takeover offer that could value the business at up to GBP437 million (USD696 million), according to the Financial Times. Last year Carlyle paid Kingston GBP34 million in cash for its satellite and broadcasting business Inmedia. Kingston, the only profitable alternative telco in the UK, confirmed it has received an offer, but declined to name its suitor.
