Sales up at Bouygues

9 Nov 2005

French cellular operator Bouygues Telecom has reported revenues of EUR3.37 billion in the first nine months of the year, up 28% year-on-year. Much of the increase is due to a new billing system introduced for mobile-to-mobile calls at the start of the year; Bouygues says if the system had been in place in 2004 the increase in sales would have been around 8%. The operator had almost 7.83 million mobile subscribers at the end of September, with more than 68% of these post-paid contract users. Data revenues represented 16.4% of network sales, up from 14.6% a year before, thanks largely to a rise in i-mode mobile internet usage.
