Malaysian cellco DiGi Telecommunications boosted its third quarter net income by 73% year-on-year to MYR143 million from MYR83 million, on a 29% increase in turnover to MYR745 million. DiGi’s mobile subscribers grew 49% in the year to 4.19 million from 2.8 million, following net additions of 422,000 in 3Q 2005 alone. DiGi had a 23% share of the Malaysian market at the end of June 2005, behind Maxis Mobile with 40% and Celcom’s 37%; Celcom and Maxis have yet to announce their results for the third quarter.
