Alcatel completes upgrade of Privolzhsky broadband network

French vendor Alcatel has completed the upgrade and expansion of Volga Telecom’s broadband access network in the Privolzhsky Federal Region of Russia. The expanded network will be operational by the end of year. Under the terms of the contract, Alcatel provided two Volga Telecom regional operators with an integrated solution, including its Alcatel 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) and 7324 Remote Unit to extend the operator’s service reach to less dense and remote rural areas. A subsidiary of holding company Svyazinvest, Volga Telecom is made up of ten regional telecoms operators (RTOs) in the Privolzhskiy Federal Region. Each operator now operates under the Volga name providing a full portfolio of telecoms services to residential and business users in Kirov, Nizhniy Novgorod, Orenburg, Penza, Samara, Saratov, Uliyanovsk, and the Republics of Chuvashia, Mariy EI, Mordovia and Udmurtia.
