DoCoMo to invest in Asia Pacific

2 Nov 2005

Japanese cellco NTT DoCoMo has revealed that it is considering investing in mobile operators in the Asia Pacific region in a bid to introduce new revenue sources as its domestic mobile market becomes increasingly saturated. The cellco has focused more on Europe and the US for investments in the past, but believes that there is more growth potential in Asia. According to Toshinari Kunieda, managing director of DoCoMo’s global business unit, the cellco is considering China, the Philippines, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan as possible investment countries, as they are the countries most travelled to by the Japanese public.
