Telmex highlights progress in Colombia

Mexican telecoms giant Telmex has highlighted its Colombian fixed line unit as one of its most improved businesses in its third quarter performance report. Telmex’s operating profit in the country shot up to COP6.2 billion pesos (USD2.7 million) in the quarter from COP802 million in 3Q 2004, whilst sales went up 27.5% to COP77 billion. In its report the company attributes the growth to the expansion of its data transmission and related services.
