31 Oct 2005

Digital cable television operator Matav has confirmed that it is considering tabling a takeover bid for Partner Communications, one of Israel’s wireless operators in which it already has a small stake. In a press release Matav claimed it was too early to speculate on the structure of terms of any transaction. Matav is one of three cableco’s in the country with networks serving approximately 25% of the population. Partner claimed 2.4 million wireless customers at the end of June, giving it a 32% market share.
