31 Oct 2005

Estonian mobile operator Eesti Mobiiltelefon (EMT) has launched the country’s first commercial 3G service over a W-CDMA network supplied by Swedish vendor Ericsson. It currently offers 3G data services to users in the capital, Tallinn, and is planning to expand coverage nationwide in phases. Long-time partner Ericsson is EMT’s sole supplier of W-CDMA technology and related services; it was previously selected as the cellco’s sole provider of GSM core and radio network equipment, including GPRS/EDGE platforms.
