Telecom Italia to launch converged fixed-mobile handsets late next year

28 Oct 2005

Telecom Italia has revealed plans to launch mobile handsets capable of utilising both its fixed and mobile networks by the end of 2006. The phones will be based on the Unlicensed Mobile Access technology, which uses Wi-Fi and ADSL technology in the users’ household and switches to GSM/GPRS networks when mobile. Under the plan customers will continue to receive separate bills for fixed and mobile services.
