28 Oct 2005

Qatar’s monopoly telco Qatar Telecom (Q-Tel) says it has completed the first phase of a QAR40 million (USD11 million) terrestrial trunk radio network covering Ras Laffan Industrial City. Q-Tel plans to launch services commercially over the network before year-end, following successful trials. Work on phase two of the project, covering Greater Doha and the cities of Messaieed and Dukhan, will be completed next month in time for the West Asian Games. Phase three will provide nationwide coverage and is scheduled for completion before the Asia Games in July 2006.
