Regulator reduces wholesale ULL prices

27 Oct 2005

The Croatian Telecommunications Agency has ordered fixed line incumbent T-HT to reduce its wholesale unbundled local loop (ULL) prices by 32% as part of its continued attempts to ramp up competition in the market. The latest reductions follow a similar order made in June forcing T-HT to cut its standard interconnection fee by 5%.

The regulator began issuing concessions for competitors to T-HT in December last year and has licensed twelve companies so far. Two of the new operators, Optima Telekom and Portus (which offers services under the H1 banner), this week launched their first ADSL packages, becoming the first telcos to offer high speed internet in competition to the incumbent.
