Iran’s first ever satellite will be launched from Plesetsk, Russia this week, with another to follow before the end of the year. The Sina satellite will be lauanched alongside devices from Russia, China and the UK on Thursday, and will be used primarily for communications and the monitoring of natural disasters, according to AFP. Another Iranian satellite, known as Mesbah (meaning Lantern), is due to be launched before the end of the year, with a third expected to follow in 2006.
