DoCoMo launches PTT

Japan’s number one cellco NTT DoCoMo has introduced a push-to-talk (PTT) service using its latest 3G handsets – the 902i series. PTT is a walkie-talkie style service which enables simultaneous, one way communication from one 902i user to as many as four others. The service is currently being offered free of charge as an introductory offering, and will be launched commercially in January 2006 when it will cost JPY5.25 (USD0.04) for each one way communication, which can last for up to 30 seconds.
