Ericsson has been awarded contracts worth around YSD290 million by two China Mobile subsidiaries. The Swedish vendor is supplying core and radio access equipment to expand the GSM networks of Guangdong Mobile and Guangxi Mobile. The expansion will boost Guangdong Mobile’s network capacity to over 60 million users, while that of Guangxi Mobile will rise to almost ten million. The Guangdong deal also calls for the rollout of EDGE technology to boost data transmission speeds.
