PT responds to broadband broadside

19 Oct 2005

Portugal Telecom has rubbished claims that the penetration level of broadband internet services in Portugal is among the lowest in Europe. A study commissioned by the country’s independent competition regulator claimed that low broadband usage would persist unless competition in the sector improved. It recommended that PT’s fixed line and broadband network businesses be separated. According to a Reuters report, however, PT says it is “perplexed” by the claims and adds that the study uses methods which are “not adequate”.
