80 million mobile users at end September

According to regulator Anatel, there were 70.99 million mobile subscribers in Brazil at the end of September, up 1.3% from 78.94 million at the end of August and an increase of 38% in twelve months. Of the total, 64.88 million (81.1%) were pre-paid customers and 15.12 million (18.9%) were post-paid. Brasilcel (Vivo) is the largest operator in the country, with a 36.1% market share, with TIM Brasil in second place with 22.9% and America Movil (Claro) being the third largest with 21.8%. GSM technology accounted for 48% of the mobile customer base in the country at the end of September, with CDMA accounting for 28.4% and TDMA for 23.4%.
