Colombian telco Emcali has contracted Chinese vendor ZTE to build a USD10.9 million IP network. The first phase of the project will involve the replacement of 95,000 analogue and digital lines with broadband VoIP technology, and the installation of 40,000 new VoIP lines. The new network is slated for launch in the first quarter of next year and is expected to result in a 50% decrease in broadband subscriber fees.
