BT and Yahoo! have agreed a deal to extend their strategic broadband partnership and expanded their alliance to bring all of the UK telco’s high speed internet packages under the BT Yahoo! broadband name. From 24 October, BT will simplify its broadband offerings into four basic packages, from its entry level GBP17.99 a month Option One service with a monthly download limit of 2GB, up to the high end 40GB-limit, GBP29.99 Option Four package; all four products offer broadband at speeds of up to 2Mbps and come with bundled Yahoo! content and services, whilst the two most expensive packages include a wireless router. BT says that it is currently trialling an 8Mbps service, which it plans to launch commercially in spring 2006. The BT-Yahoo! alliance was formed in June 2003 and the duo rolled out co-branded broadband services the following September.
