Sawiris seeking advice on OT-Wind merger

Orascom Telecom chairman Naguib Sawiris has revealed he is investigating the possibility of merging the Egyptian group with Wind, the Italian telco recently taken over by another of his investment vehicles, Weather Investments. In a conference call with analysts, Sawiris said he was being advised on a possible merger of the two businesses. ‘We think there would be a multiple effect in putting the assets together, but I am not a specialist in that,’ Sawiris told the analysts, according to Reuters. ‘We have retained a financial institution that will give us the best advice on how to do that and where to list and how to list and how to protect everybody.’
