Nokia has signed an agreement with China Putian to jointly develop WCDMA and TD-SCDMA 3G network solutions for the Chinese market. The deal between the two firms will focus on R&D, manufacturing and sales, with the joint venture headquarters located in the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province. Nokia and China Putian will invest a total of CNY900 million in the venture, with the Chinese partner having a controlling 51% stake. Products will be marketed under Putian’s existing brand, Potevio. Nokia and China Putian are long-term partners in the Chinese GSM equipment market.
