11 Oct 2005

French equipment manufacturer Alcatel says it has sold more than 70 million digital subscriber lines (DSL) in total to customers around the world, up 40% on the 50 million lines shipped at the same time last year. The company reports strong demand for its Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) family of products, a triple play access platform which is capable of supporting a range of access technologies and services. Alcatel says that in the last twelve months more than 35 operators have signed deals for ISAM products, including China Telecom, China Netcom and Chunghwa Telecom. The vendor has also announced the recent launch of two IPTV applications – the Alcatel 5900 AmigoTV and MyOwnTV application – and predicts strong future growth from the triple play market, which it estimates will reach 70-100 million users by 2010.
