Post, telecoms sectors to be separated in 2007

7 Oct 2005

The Prime Minister of Vietnam, Phan Van Khai, has approved a plan to separate the country’s postal and telecoms operations in 2007, bringing it into line with its regional neighbours. The government hopes the move will galvanise development in both sectors by 2010. The directive calls upon the postal and telecommunication sectors to improve their production capacity with better equipment, to be able to meet 80% of postal, telecommunication and informational technology requirements of Vietnamese consumers by 2010.
