eircom denies Swisscom interest

Irish fixed line operator eircom has denied speculation that it is in talks with Swisscom, after local press reported that the Swiss telecom group was looking to stage a EUR3 billion buyout of the company. Shares in eircom jumped 13% on the takeover news.
