6 Oct 2005

Argentinean regional telecoms operator Telpin, which provides communications services in the Atlantic Coastal region of the country, has selected IP-based networking services and solutions provider UTStarman to deploy its iAN-8000 Multiservice Access Node (MSAN) in order to broaden its subscriber base and deliver triple play services. Telpin plans to begin offering next-generation broadband applications to subscribers that have previously been denied access to such services. Commenting on the announcement the company’s chief executive officer Dario Oliver said: ‘UTStarcom’s iAN-8000 will allow us to offer new, revenue-generating services such as VoIP and IPTV that we could not provide with our previous network infrastructure and provide us with the flexibility to expand the network as our subscriber base grows.’ The MSAN platform is designed to enable operators to offer multiple services from one point of delivery, including voice, VoIP, and both ADSL 2 and ADSL 2+ technologies and also supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for telephony and teleconferencing applications.
